Hello, Indianapolis! We are Crossroads Comedy Theater and we are looking so forward to meeting you.
We are currently offering courses in improv and sketch comedy writing at Union Indy at 525 S. Meridian Street in beautiful downtown Indianapolis. Classes are on sale through 5/29 for $30 off – just $199 for a full, six week, class. You’ll learn a new skill, meet new people, and have a great time doing it. Plus you’ll improve a bunch of valuable skills good outside the classroom such as communication, collaboration, self-confidence, public speaking, and so much more.
At this time we do not have a scholarship program, but it is in the works. We do offer payment plans through AfterPay, which allows you to enroll in courses and pay in 4 interest free installments over 6 weeks. We do not yet produce live shows in the Indianapolis area. We are looking to build up a good base of Crossroads trained performers before we start producing any live shows. We may hold auditions soon as well. It’s also very important to us that when we do have live shows that the people performing on our stage and the people in the audience represent the population of Indianapolis in all ways. Auditions could be held sometime in the near future as we know there is already a talented base of performers in the Indy area.
The main thing that Crossroads stresses, particularly with our improv classes, is that they are for everyone. You do not need to be a performer to take our classes or have any aspirations to be a performer. You simply have to be a person that is interested in any or all of the many benefits a comedy class can have in your life. As Mike says, “Improv is not just for performers. That’s why our Improv 1 course is titled ‘Improv for Everyone.’ The lessons learned in our courses go well beyond the stage to benefit people in their everyday lives and work. Whatever brings you to Crossroads – we got your back!”
Though the company is on the newer side, our founder, Mike Marbach, has almost 20 years history in comedy and almost as long teaching and in comedy theatre administration. Mike started Crossroads Philly at the height of the pandemic after other area theaters closed their doors. This was done as a way to bring in several of his popular shows and his podcast network under one roof as well as to continue working with some of his favorite performers. After producing shows online via Zoom for about a year, Crossroads Philly then moved to safely producing live comedy shows and comedy classes and, with the help of many, the theater continues to grow each day.
Now that Mike lives in Indianapolis, he is looking to bring that Crossroads experience and fun to the Crossroads of America. He had this to say about the new Indy location, “Philly is now in the great hands of people that actually live there. I am in Indy and it’s time to focus on doing what we can to add to the already lively comedy and theater scene here. It may take some time, but I know people will love what we have to offer.”
